Intentional Transitions – Hold conscious closures and beginnings

In each cycle, we go through, something comes to a close, as something new begins.

If you’re reading this activity, you’re probably at a transition point. Something has ended, and you’re orienting to what comes next. Bringing intentionality and acknowledgement to this phase of your process can integrate learning, bring clarity between what you’re closing and what you’re stepping into.

Grab a journal, a note-taking software, or some other way you’d like to reflect.

As this chapter of your life comes to a close:

  • Is there anything you need to let go of or grieve or would you like to create a ritual?
  • What do you want to acknowledge?
  • What have you learned and what is most salient right now that you want to honor as part of this process?
  • What are you grateful for?
  • What do you wish could have been different, if anything?
  • How do you want to remember this past phase of your life?
  • Is there anything symbolic that would feel meaningful to signify the closing of this chapter?
  • Do you need to rest & rejuvenate before you transition into something new?

As you’re stepping into the new:

  • What is most meaningful to you now?
  • If you zoom out and see the broader picture of your life, what do you envision and want to intend this next phase to center around?
  • What are you looking forward to?
  • What possibilities can you sense?
  • What would bring joy and ease in this coming time?
  • What are your unknowns?
  • Where can you take small safe-to-fail steps forward?
  • Who do you want to connect with more at this time?
  • What do you need to design and plan for?
